Gate Repair Before & After in San Antonio, TX

Photos of finished work are useful, but the before is where the story lives. Every repair we do in San Antonio starts with a gate that won’t close, won’t open, or makes a sound like a car accident waiting to happen. The after matters because it’s your family, your driveway, your routine back to normal. Here are a few recent transformations from neighborhoods around San Antonio.

Recent Transformations

Slide Gate Off Track in Alamo Heights

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Slide gate re-seated onto rail, wheels cleaned and tension corrected in Alamo Heights.

The gate had jumped the rail after a San Antonio storm washed gravel into the track. The owner had been forcing it closed by shoving it, which bent two of the guide wheels. We pulled the gate back, cleared the stones, replaced the bent wheels, and set the rail level. Now it glides with a two-finger push instead of a shoulder.

LiftMaster Keypad and Safety Sensor Swap in Stone Oak

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
New LiftMaster keypad and aligned photo-eye safety sensors installed in Stone Oak.

The keypad had been dead for months, so the family was cycling the gate from inside the house. The safety sensors, the little eyes near the ground that stop the gate if a child or pet crosses, were also misaligned. We installed a new LiftMaster keypad, realigned both sensors, and tested it with a football rolled under the gate. Works as it should.

Mighty Mule Opener Making a Grinding Noise in Helotes

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Stripped gear pulled from a Mighty Mule opener on the northwest side of Helotes, beside the new replacement.

You could hear this Mighty Mule from the street. The internal drive gear had worn down to smooth teeth, so the motor spun but the arm barely moved. We opened the unit, cleaned out the metal dust, and replaced the gear set. The gate opens at normal speed and the only sound now is the chain clicking into place.

FAAC Hydraulic Ram Leaking in Terrell Hills

Technician using an angle grinder to repair a metal gate.
Corroded FAAC ram removed and replaced at a property in Terrell Hills.

This one left a small black puddle at the base of the gate every morning. The ram seal had failed, and once the fluid level dropped, the gate would stop halfway and stall. We replaced the ram assembly and refilled the system with the correct FAAC hydraulic fluid. After cycling it twenty times, the gate closed completely and held with no new drips.

Viking Control Board Burned Out After Outage in Castle Hills

Professional gate repair and welding service in progress
Burned Viking control board replaced with a new board, wired and tested in Castle Hills.

A power surge during a July storm took out the Viking board. The gate would not respond to remotes or the wall button. We removed the fried board, confirmed the transformer still fed power, and installed a new Viking board programmed to the existing remotes. The owner did not need to reprogram a single remote in the car.

BFT Swing Gate Hinge Sag Freeport-Style Wall in Shavano Park

Technician performing electric gate motor repair and maintenance
Sagging steel swing gate re-hung with new hinges and a BFT motor aligned to the leaf in Shavano Park.

The gate leaf had been grinding against the driveway for weeks because the lower hinge was worn oval. That drag was also overloading the BFT motor. We lifted the leaf, replaced both hinges, and remounted the motor arm so it pulled in a straight line. The gate swings silent and clears the pavers by a good inch and a half.
